In your letter you have expressed your extreme desire to know about a great
woman that I have recently read. So, I would like to write you about the great
woman.
Recently I have read about the great woman in an ‘English Article’ that
has published in ‘The Daily Star’. The name of the great lady is ‘Florence
Nightingale’. She is known as, ‘The Lady with a Lamp’. She was born in Florence
in Italy on 12 May, 1820. She was a nurse. She worked in a nursing home in
London. After a war called, ‘The Crimean War’ broke out, she made up her mind
to get out of the war for nursing the wounded soldiers. She organized her
nursing service to relieve the suffering of the British soldiers. At night, she
was often seen passing along the beds of the wounded soldiers with a lamp in
her hand. For this reason, she came to be called, ‘The Lady with a Lamp’. Her
system was adopted and developed in many parts of the world during the war.
This great leady died on 13 August, in London, 1910. Generations of the
centuries will be remembering her.
